After a long trip with multiple issues, delays, and problems, I have arrived.  I planned to travel from Des Moines to Chicago then to LA.  I was planning on arriving there by 7:00 then spending the next day in LA before I left for Taipei that night.  My first flight was delayed to Chicago.  We left 40 mins later which caused me to miss my flight in Chicago.  I then got a later flight in Chicago which seemed to go fine.  However when we were in the air, a burning electrical smell filled the cabin.  So we had to turn back to Chicago.  We landed in the emergency landing area and were surrounded by emergency vehicles.  It was quite the experience.
After arriving in LA, I checked into my hotel and got some sleep.  I then did a LA tour where I got to see Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Rodeo Rd, the farmers market and more.  I saw the avenue of the stars and the famous footprints.  This was fun and very interesting.
My flight to Taiwan was 14 hours.  I arrived in Taipei and was greeted by the Iowa State boys, Eric and Sam, as well as James,  a student who works with the foreign students.  I moved into my room and got some fast food.
Tuesday night there was a birthday party for a foreign student that had been attending Tatung University for a while.  I was invited to go out to eat with t.  We went to a really fancy restaurant on a hill top, overlooking the lit up city of Taipei.   There was a group of 30 some people and we had a good time chilling and taking pictures.
Today I talked with the Vice President of Tatung Company.  We discussed my options for internships.  I am very excited for all the opportunities I will have here.  I can work for 4 to 5 companies in my two months here.  I will get to do some exciting stuff.  Much of the work here is on energy efficiency and green energy.  I could do work with solar moduals, smart energy meters, or on fuel cells.  I can also do work with the manufacturing of Tatung products.  I will be starting my work on Monday.  I still don't have any information about the class I will be taking.  The professor is not here right now.  I should be figuring that out shortly.  I plan on exploring these next couple of days that I have free.

    Fun Fact!!!!!!!!
(I will try and update this often.)

    1.
In Taiwan they don't normally drink anything with their meal because they always have rice.  They say the rice will fill up with the moisture and make their stomach hurt.  Many restaurants don't have anything for you to drink.  After you eat, you find a near by tea shop and get something there.

    2.
There is a separate lane for mopeders because there are so many here.
    3.
Kleenexs are used as facial tissues, napkins, paper towels, and toilet paper!

    4.
You can count to 9 on one hand in Taiwan.

    5.
You shouldn't place your chop sticks in your food.  It is correct to set them on top of your bowl.  Sticking them in the bowl represents incense in ashes, which is done in temples.
